As you've probably guessed, my name is Claire... 

 

Things you might like to know about me: I adore minimalist design and love a good clear-out! I prefer winter to summer because I have a real thing for layers, especially getting cosy with candles and big scarves. I'm not afraid to be the first person on the dance floor. I also really like biscuits!

Things you might like to know about my business: I believe wholeheartedly in running my business ethically and this means using small indie providers for my products, working closely with other small businesses in the industry, making sure my sources for packaging and printing are as ethical and eco-friendly as I can get, and never judging or pushing my couples and families but truly working with you to create amazing images.

 

What you might like to know about why I shoot: My love of photography was inspired by my grandfather, and this passion just grew and grew, but its significance in my life only struck me when I became acutely ill after the birth of my son. Not only did the process of image-making calm me, but the photos themselves played an important role in me recalling his first year as a sad side effect of my treatment was memory loss in the months surrounding it. Those images allowed me to reconnect with myself and with him, and to claw back the time and the details and the emotions. More recently, we lost our second son, and the images we have from only a few hours with him are so unbelievably precious and healing. I have had the honour of working with parents who have suffered a similar loss, and to be so deeply trusted to shoot honestly and empathetically, with delicacy and care was completely humbling.  But this is why I completely dedicate myself to every couple and family to capture the details and the moments as they unfurl and to really tell a story of people as they are and who they are. To me, the art of photography is capturing the now, for memories, for the future.

Things you probably should know about how I make images: I shoot predominantly in a documentary style, which means storytelling and letting things unfurl naturally, and often people don't even realise I'm creating the image - lots of clients seem to refer to me as a ninja... (I guess I do my best by wearing silent shoes for weddings!) 

 

Things you might like to know about what to expect when working with me: I will bring bundles of energy and enthusiasm with me, and won't be afraid of looking a bit silly to either help the team relax, or get the perfect shot. I like to meet you if possible, before a shoot (preferably over coffee? favourite biscuit requests are ALWAYS welcome!), and find out about what makes YOU tick, your enthusiasms and how you spend your spare time, or what you secretly collect. I'd say my strength is working with people who aren't too keen on being in front of the camera, and getting relaxed and natural images. Most of all, I want to find out how I can best work for you to deliver something that you will honestly treasure for years to come and reflects you and all your details in this period of life.
