Jenny + Aaron: A Relaxed October Wedding in Devon

Jenny and Aaron are incredible. Their day was so packed full and right in the middle of the Devon countryside to be near family. I travelled down early morning with my fabulous assistant/second shooter, Eliza and as we weaved our way this way and that way I was suddenly very grateful to have grown up in countryside lanes myself! I dropped Eliza to Jenny’s bridal prep, and then made my way to find Aaron and the boys for a brief coverage of groom prep. I say brief... when Aaron’s dad realised he was missing his trousers, there was a big hunt for them, with people disappearing back to hotels, and scouring online shopping for emergency replacements! I’d offered to go pick some up for him because no one had any transport, but fortunately they were found eventually... in the bottom of the suit bag! Panic over, and with Sid down for a nap, the boys had a good joke and got themselves ready before I dashed back over to Jenny.

Jenny had a stunning dried flower bouquet, and a simple but elegant lace dress, and was absolutely beaming as she walked down the aisle at The Anchor Inn, Taunton with her Uncle on her arm. Surrounded by friends and family from all over, including the states and Malaysia, the ceremony was lighthearted and meaningful, and just full of joy. I think my favourite part was when Jenny and Aaron high-fived before their first kiss!

Aaron and Jenny’s guests were so much fun, and whilst I do work through group photos at top notch speed, these lots were game for anything and wedding party photos turned into a dance off - some of my favourite groups to date just because they were so impromptu and full of proper belly laughs. I cannot floss anywhere near as well (read: at all) as these guys!

They had banqueting tables for their guests and a sweetheart table at the front to share with their little cutie, Sid, which was just perfect - they could see and chat with everyone whilst taking it all in as a little family unit, and all the speech givers were spread out throughout the room. The tables were laid with beautiful bouquets and blooms, candles, hessian, and eucalyptus. Jenny had DIY-ed so much from the backdrop, to the seating plan, and sweet table - a very skilled lady indeed! And the food was so delicious, I can still see the roast dinner and chocolate brownie pudding...

Many couples opt for a spring or summer wedding for the colour, but I can promise you that October is just as stunning, and the light is so beautiful. Jenny and Aaron had a dry but overcast day for their wedding, but the sky was full of softly pink cloud at about 7pm, and so we clambered over a stile into the empty field opposite, along the public walking route. Relaxed, natural couple portraits is what I’m all about, so we had a walk, a natter and a giggle before heading back inside for cake cutting and some music. And this was the point at which Eliza and I made our fond farewells, off to our Air BnB and some zzzz, leaving Jenny, Aaron, Sid and their loved ones to party, natter and giggle the night away.

Jenny also very kindly provided a list of all her suppliers, so if you fancied some inspiration then just check these out below!
